Finally the annoying cloudband that has delivered light rain, no storms and Winter-like conditions to SE Qld starts to clear, giving us a nice sunset.

Some strong storms developing on the Granite Belt and Darling Downs and moved generally north. I took a few pics of the distant storms from the lake as the storms were in a weakened mode.

A band of showers and storms moved across SE Qld with local heavy falls and gale force winds. The best falls were in the 50-85mm range. Where I was, 44mm fell.

Today was a bit touch and go but with the help of 40C temperatures and an approaching SE change, some storms did develop. They were fast moving and generally high based.

A lovely Mt Warning sunset on a day when snow fell over parts of the NSW Northern Tablelands and even the Qld Granite Belt for the first time in November in over 40 years.

Storms were expected inland, and the shear was likely to move them towards the coast later. Castellanus during the morning pointed to the unstable mid levels, but it seemed if there was a problem, it would be the lack of moisture near the surface.

On a day when I was fiiiiinally able to get out and chase (albeit after a late start), things initially looked good on the way to Harrisville. But then the struggling storm activity died off - probably in need of more moisture.

I took a few pics with the backup cam straight out of work but unforunately by the time I took them, the storms had that 'gusted out' appearance. Very welcome heavy rain fell over inland areas, occompanied by gale force winds.

Temps of 32-33C along the coast helped build some nice storms, mostly on the Border Ranges and Gold Coast. Some isolated hail damage was reported. [Pics not very exciting!]
